The Forever Ballroom
“Would you like to dance?” he asks. His eyes are so blue she feels her brain freeze. She takes his hand, and they twirl.
The ballroom’s huge and full of strangers, but she holds on and lets him take her around the floor. He’s got this strange smile that lights the way. The whole place blurs, like she’s on a ride.
And when she wants to stop, she can’t. She doesn’t know where she is anymore, and everything is spinning. She tries to tell him, but she’s out of breath.
He grins at her like he knows and doesn’t care.
